Invitationals

For the 2019 season, we are excited to announce that Towne Lake Wake will be attending the following invitationals.  Invitational meets are swam typically at fast high school pools (yes, there is a science behind what makes one pool faster than another one) where the kids will usually drop some serious time!  Most of the kids' best times for the season come from invitational meets.  Plus, it's also a great experience for the kids swimming in a pool with a large crowd in the stands and a huge confidence booster when they get an award or drop some major time, so we encourage you to attend!

There is a small fee for each event entered.  Swimmers will be responsible for paying their individual event fees and their portion of any relay fees by the deadline.

Mid-Season Invitationals

Summer Thunder

Date: Sunday, June 2 and Monday, June 3
Sessions: Sunday – all 10&Under events and 11&Over 100 Free/100 IM
                 Monday – all remaining 11&Over events and relays
Location: Klein HS

Summer Thunder will be our first mid-season invitational this year. This will be the first time our full team has attended this fast and competitive invitational. This invitational is typically attended by some of the largest and best teams in NWAL (like Coles Crossing, Fairfield, Bridgeland, Northpointe, and The Woodlands among others), so we look forward to bringing the WAKE against them this year! Another cool feature about this invitational is that Summer Thunder usually has a former Olympic swimmer provide a motivational talk session before the Sunday session and is available for autographs and pictures during the meet. In order to qualify to attend, a swimmer must achieve the qualifying time. Swimmers will compete in 1 time division and awards will be given to the top 8 swimmers in each individual event by single age groups as follows: 6&U, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15-18. Swimmers may enter ALL individual events for which they qualify and one medley relay and one freestyle relay. They are not limited to 3 individual events like the dual meets. NTs (no time) are not permitted. A swimmer must have a time from Time Trials or one of the dual meets.

Pentathlon

Date: Sunday, June 9th
Sessions:  8:30am - 10&under, 2:00pm - 11&over
Location: TBD

Pentathlon will be our late mid-season invitational.  The Pentathlon is a unique event in that all swimmers that enter will swim all five events (Fly, Back, Breast, Free, and IM), hence the name “pentathlon”.  Awards are given in each of the individual events for 1st - 16th place.  Overall pentathlete awards are given for the top 5 places and determined by adding all 5 times together for an overall cumulative time.  Age groups are 7&U, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15-16, and 17-18.  In addition, all 6-year old swimmers who complete all events legally will receive an award!  Qualifying times are determined by adding the swimmer’s best time in each of those 5 events, except 8&U which does not include the IM time.  NTs (no time) are not allowed, so everyone must have a time in these 5 events.  Time Trial times are accepted as long as an official meet time has not been established.

Post-Season Invitationals

Trinity Summer Classic

Date: Sat-Sun, June 22-23
Sessions: Sat – all 10&Under events in one 8-lane pool
                 Sun – all 11&Over events with a boys 8-lane pool & a girls 8-lane pool running simultaneously
Location: Conroe ISD (Woodlands) Natatorium

This year Towne Lake Wake will be trying another new invitational for the first time – the Trinity Summer Classic! Like the Red, White & Blue invitational this meet typically has 2 time divisions – the Silver (fast) and the Gold (faster).  That means more kids are able to qualify and experience this exciting Invitational!  We look forward to creating a massive WAKE to wash away all the others!

This invitational will be held in one of the finest and fastest swimming venues in the Houston area – the Conroe ISD Natatorium near The Woodlands. Swimmers must meet either the Silver or Gold qualifying time at an official meet (Time Trial times are not permitted); however, they cannot meet or exceed the Gold Cut Off Time (which is the Ponderosa qualifying time). Awards are given out to the top 8 places in each division and by age group. Age groups are 6&U, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15-18. Swimmers may enter ALL individual events for which they qualify and one medley relay and one freestyle relay. They are not limited to 3 individual events like the dual meets.

Red White & Blue

Date: Fri-Sun, June 28-30

Sessions: Fri PM - 11&Over 100 Free, 13&Over 100 IM
Sat - 10&Under
Sun - remaining 11&Over events
Location: Campbell MS

The Red, White & Blue Invitational is a popular post-season invitational meet because it has 2 divisions - the Red (fast) and the Blue (faster) - so more kids are able to qualify. Swimmers must meet either the Red or Blue qualifying time at an official meet (Time Trial times are not permitted); however, they cannot meet or exceed the Blue Cut Off Time (which is the Ponderosa qualifying time). Awards are given out to the top 8 places in each division and by age. Age groups are 6&U, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15-16, and 17-18. Swimmers may enter ALL individual events for which they qualify and one medley relay and one freestyle relay. They are not limited to 3 individual events like the dual meets.

All-Stars

Date: Sat-Sun, June 29-30
Sessions:  Sat - Free and Back events
                 Sun - Fly, Breast, and IM events
Location:  Klein HS

All-Stars is a championship meet format where preliminary heats are swam in the morning and then the top 8 swimmers in each event and by individual age come back at night to swim in a finals heat (much like the Olympic format).  Swimmers that make finals are individually introduced to the crowd so it is a special experience for them.  Swimmers must meet the qualifying time at an official meet (Time Trial times are not permitted); however, they cannot meet or exceed the Cut Off Time (which is the Ponderosa qualifying time).  Qualifying times are generally similar to the Blue qualifying time for RWB.  Awards are given to the top 8 in each event based on their time in the finals.  Swimmers may enter ALL individual events for which they qualify. They are not limited to 3 individual events like the dual meets.

Ponderosa

Date: Sat-Sun, June 29-30
Sessions: Sat - Free and Back events
                Sun - Fly, Breast, and IM events
Location: CFISD Natatorium

Ponderosa is the ultimate championship meet in NWAL.  It is the hardest one to qualify for and truly is the "best of the best" in NWAL. Ponderosa is also a championship meet format where preliminary heats are swam in the morning and then the top 16 swimmers in each age group event come back at night to swim in a championship finals and consolation finals heat (much like the Olympic format). Swimmers that make finals are individually introduced to the crowd so it is a special experience for them. Swimmers must meet the qualifying time at an official meet (Time Trial times are not permitted). Awards are given to the top 16 in each event based on their time in each finals. Swimmers may enter ALL individual events for which they qualify. They are not limited to 3 individual events like the dual meets.
